Best 4k laser for under £999

Amazing quality. It's like going to the cinema. Pair with a decent Bluetooth speaker and at least a 120 inch screen for the best show

Brilliant projector!

Having owned the Nebula 2 prior to this purchase, the bar was set high. So here are the best bits in comparison.Picture quality - excellent, even in low light, but it is a projector so manage your expectations.Sound quality - very good, nice mids, good bottom end, treble ok.Ease of set up - very good, all the apps I have used offer Bar code set up.Remote control - brilliant, no need to point it at the projector, very forgiving.Software - outstanding, the Keystone feature is brilliant. This is a feature that corrects the actual image to a normal aspect ratio when the projector is above or below the screen. What really is amazing is the angle the projector can be positioned left or right of the screen. One press of a button and the projector scans the screen area, and then adjusts the aspect ratio to fill to my chosen 16:9In summary, this is an amazing bit of kit. The only criticisms are the chassis/plinth are a bit plasticky, and there is nothing in the way of real documentation.Should you buy one, He’ll Yeah!

My Living Room Is Now a Mini IMAX (and I Might Never Go Outside Again)

I picked up the Anker NEBULA Cosmos 4K SE Laser+LED Dolby yesterday, and honestly, I think my TV is now sulking in the corner.Setup:Unboxing felt like opening a spaceship component—sleek, shiny, and way more intelligent than I expected. Plugged it in, and within minutes it was projecting a crystal-clear 120" picture on my wall. I swear the setup wizard was more polite than most humans.Picture & Sound:The 4K laser+LED combo is chef’s kiss. I could count individual hairs on Keanu Reeves’ head in John Wick 4 (which, for science, I had to test). Dolby Audio fills the room so well that my cat hid under the couch during explosions. It’s bright enough that I accidentally watched half a movie in daylight—something I couldn’t even dream of with my old projector unless I wanted a “vague shadow play” experience.Portability:It’s got a handle, which makes me feel like I’m carrying a lunchbox full of cinematic dreams. I’ve already planned a backyard movie night—assuming my friends can stop asking “Wait, this is actually 4K?”Downsides:The remote is a bit too enthusiastic about Netflix shortcuts. I swear it’s judging me every time I press it.Also, beware: once you’ve watched a movie in 4K laser glory, regular hotel TVs will make you question your life choices.Verdict:If you’ve ever wanted to turn your wall into a window to another dimension (or just make popcorn feel more cinematic), this is the projector for you. Just remember: once you go NEBULA, there’s no going back.

Good picture and sound with easy set up.

Really easy to set up once on WiFi, great picture, good outside once the sun set, good inside and easy to move around. Still finding out how to adjust the framing of picture but the sound is excellent, I expected to have to bluetooth to some speakers, which you can easily, but I've stuck with the units own speakers as they are so good.If you're looking for a projector this is highly recommended.

I’m so happy I didn’t waste money on a bulky TV unit that would have been stuck in the living room. With the Nebula Cosmos, I have the flexibility to move it anywhere I want, and setup takes just a couple of minutes! The most impressive feature is its ability to project from multiple awkward angles—it doesn’t even need to be directly in front of the wall or screen, and it auto-adjusts everything seamlessly, which is just incredible. In my bedroom, I usually project onto the wall opposite my bed, but I’m lucky to have block-out roller blinds throughout my place, which effectively mimic a projector screen. In the living room, I have a huge balcony window with a single-piece blind, and once I project onto it, the experience is truly cinematic—it feels like having a movie theatre at home! That said, when watching something during the day or in the morning, I hardly ever pull the blinds down, yet the picture still looks surprisingly solid. The built-in Google TV is a great addition, providing access to all the major apps without needing an external device. I did see some complaints about the BBC iPlayer app not being available, but I worked around it by bookmarking the website in my browser of choice. It does take a couple of extra clicks to launch, but it works just fine—and definitely better than AirPlay, which has been a bit hit or miss. While airplaying BBC or other things from my phone worked fine, trying to stream a movie via VLC on my MacBook resulted in sound-sync issues with the Nebula. However, connecting via HDMI cable completely resolves this, so it’s not a dealbreaker. The built-in speaker is another standout feature. I really wanted something powerful enough to eliminate the need for extra equipment like a soundbar, and the Cosmos truly delivers. The audio is rich, multi-dimensional, and incredibly loud—so much so that I often have to turn it down late at night, especially during action scenes!Overall, the Nebula Cosmos is an absolute win. It’s versatile, compact, and delivers a true home cinema experience without the need for a traditional TV setup. Highly recommended!

This was a replacement for a nebula cosmos 4k max which kept developing the same "overheating" fault, no matter how many times I had that replaced. Eventually Anker sent me this as a replacement. I must say this is a big improvement, ok, the sound doesn't seem as good, not as much bass, but overall it's a very decent upgrade

I bought this against my existing Nebula 4K mainly for the extra hdmi port for a gaming setup but the lumens on paper is lower. In reality the SE is vibrant and some of the software tweaks like wall colour really give the picture an edge in quality. The detail in the 4K image is crystal clear to the point I think this lifts the image to a point where you consider the image to be closer to oled quality. The hdr does make a difference and 100% recommend this projector

Incredible picture. The Dolby Vision is exceptional. When I asked Anker Canada about a firmware update for 3D functionality, they responded the same day. As a consolation of having to wait a few days while the technician who pushes the firmware updates was on vacation, I was refunded 5% of the cost of the projector. Then, I didn’t even end up waiting more than 24 hours. Update was applied, and I now have 3D. This is the most AMAZING customer service I have ever experienced with technology. Looks great in my home theatre, suspended from the ceiling. Connected seamlessly to my Harmony Hub via IR. I am so pleased. If you are in the fence about this product, get it.

Best upgrade I’ve done in a while. Going from a Acer 1080P DLP to this was a bigger change then I expected. The hybrid laser is super bright and works in daylight & adjusts to nice arm dim colors based on ambient darknessThe auto focus and keystone to project onto any surface and avoid obstacles is amazingThe sounds is pretty good, even though I have an Apple TV with a Bose 5.1 setup, sometimes when lazy I play shows directly off the google home setup with its internal speaker and it’s fine!Honestly, from east of set up, quality, connectivity, it is 5 stars all the way specially at this price point

Truly portable projector - it does come in a big box. So initially I was worried about the size of this, but it is actually much smaller than the packaging. The projector is really easy to set up, especially with the app.The speakers are clear - I didn't have trouble hearing anything. However, the fans can be heard. But this is minimal compared to the speaker sound. The image is sharp, and the colours are bold (there's a maximum brightness of 1800 lumens). I used this in the living room, against a white wall and the lights off.I have heard that this is quite good for gaming, although I haven't tried this out. When the projector is moved around, it auto focuses, which is brilliant and adds a lot of versatility to this. The remote control is backlit which is great. Especially since you get the best picture quality when it's dark. There's 4k HDR resolution - really sharp.Very pleased with this projector. Even though it is expensive, the flexibility it brings with it is second to none. Great for taking on UK holidays.

I only just got this last week and basically I'm very happy with all the features, all it needs now is to be a bit brighter. I was pretty disappointed with the brightness - I can only imagine the next model will sport higher ANSI lumens - SO close to a TV replacement, but due to the low brightness, its not there yet.

This represents a great value in the under 1k projector space. I already have multiple Anker products so I figured I would give this one a try. Easy setup, the keystone is awesome and really works for multiple angle placement when I set it up in the living room and the outside patio without much fuss. Colors are vivid and really pop on HDR with Dolby Vision, the Planet Earth 3 was jaw dropping when paired with my 120" Elite Screen on the patio at night under the stars. I really look forward to movie nights with the family and would definitely recommend. Do the research and check review to see if this is right for you and your family.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this is projector. I use it for movies and football parties in the backyard. It works amazing. The projector is capable of full automatic keystone adjustments (vertical and horizontal) resulting in a perfect picture, every time. I was surprised how well it worked, even in seemingly extreme angles (think the projector is pretty close to the screen and pointing at a angle sideways or up). Similarly, the auto-focus also works quite well. The only trick to both of these, is that the room/environment needs to be pretty dark otherwise the projector gets all confused.Other neat feature is that the projector is fully integrated with Google TV. I was new to Google TV and originally plugged in my Fire stick into it - this also works without any issues but is completely redundant to Google TV, as it turned out.I see some reviews here complaining about inability to get the sound out properly - I had no issues with it at all. The projector supports sound out both via aux jack as well as via the bluetooth. If anything, the setup is too easy: all you need to do is pair the BT device et voila! sound automatically redirected there, even if the original source of the sound is HDMI. There's also the setting of using the projector's built-in 10W speaker as an output device for another sound source (say, for example, you're trying to play something off your phone). This is also possible if you go dig in the settings.Brightness. One of those strong points here. 1800 ANSI lumens while not overwhelming, is sufficiently bright. I have another halogen bulb projector that is rated at 2100 lumens and I'm not sure I can readily tell the difference. They're both bright enough to play movies outside at twilight/dusk. Not bright enough to play anything with the sun up. Much more of a range indoors, obviously. Still, I could see some challenges with trying to display something in a bright sun-lit room.Resolution. Oh my! My old projector is 1080p and - wow! - Nebula blows right out of the water. Very crisp resolution, even on a 12' screen. True 4K magic here. Make sure your movie/streaming provider actually supports it, though.Given all this raving, why not 5 stars? Let's go through the cons:- Refocusing. Like I said, I tend to use this projector outdoors, including on the screen outdoors too. Any little movement to the projector or movement of the screen (such as due to the wind or someone just bumping into the screen or anchoring ropes) results in autofocus kicking in and trying to refocus, resulting in a blurry picture for a few seconds. Autofocus works great, but I'd suggest making the threshold for triggering it less sensitive.- Throw distance. I used this one at our neighbors inflatable screen. The screen itself is ~16', which is ~190", less than the 200" max size allowed by this projector. Yet, the projector kept complaining that it's too far away and that you need to move it closer. I suspect this is because the screen is a blow-up screen and, as such, is fairly high off the ground, while the projector was more or less ground level. This made the top of the screen farther than whatever distance is built-in to the projector. Resolution quality was still amazing but the whole thing was completely unusable because the warning to move it closer to the screen would just not go away until I complied and moved it closer, thereby reducing the size of the projected image to less than 10' diag. I understand the desire to maintain the crisp resolution and encourage people not to dilute the experience (and opinion of the product) by projecting it no something too large, but having a warning that would just not go away and no way to get rid of it, is not OK. I think a much better approach here would've been to display warning once and then proceed without further interruptions.- No gimbal or stand or anything else to hold the angle for the projector for those situation when you don't have a platform/table to raise the projector to, but still need to project on a screen that goes up fairly high. This directly relates to the next and final issue.- Price tag. This projector was $1300 at the time of purchase ($1000 now, at the time of writing). Yes, it is bright. Yes, it's 4k. Yes, auto keystone and autofocus is very nifty. Having said that, my old projector (Epson) which is technically brighter, 1080p and has a 2-way quick keystone (although not automatic) was $450 on sale and $600 full price. I understand that there should be a premium for all these features, but 2x the price seems too much. I'd consider this projector a good deal (and possibly a 5-star review) in $600-$800 range. For $1300 level I expect nothing but perfection and while this projector is amazing, it still falls a bit short of perfect IMO.

V
Vaughn N.

This is a fantastic projector. Google TV built in makes it super easy to use. It has plenty of brightness for dusk to dawn and still can be used in the daytime under the awning. The daytime projection needs to be closer to the screen to see the image but it works well.

This is a fantastic projector. Google TV built in makes it super easy to use. It has plenty of brightness for dusk to dawn and still can be used in the daytime under the awning. The daytime projection needs to be closer to the screen to see the image but it works well.

It’s a bit of a beast, but WOW! The picture quality is amazing, see pictures. Better than most TVs. Big on sound but I play through a soundbar so probably not the best to judge here. Genuinely debated buying for some time as I had the Samsung freestyle 2. Wish I hadn’t waited. It’s a real game changer on 100 inch screen.

Easy to set up, the picture is indeed bright and colorful, and the fan is very quiet despite the high power.
