System upgraded

Nice up from my homebase 2. I like the ease of setup and way the app walks you throught connection and installation of accessories. The system has good configurability.
The only 2 issues I have are the blue status light on the front of the unit is very bright and cannot be dimmed. The unit comes with a physical data sim with 500mb of data and you can purchase a data top up, however I don't recall seeing this fact in the literarure before purchase.

S1 Pro updated review

18.08.2026 Update: My concerns with the delay and lagging has been resolved via an update and no longer an issue. Same with the presets, works as it did on the previous Homebase and gestures.

Sim data is expensive so not sure if I’ll preload some more etc, but I am now okay with the kit.

Original review: I bought this to upgrade from the Homebase 3 linked to the S340 and the wall light cam S120.

One issue that many have mentioned that I feel is a major downgrade, is that it does not connect to your router wirelessly and I only saw that after I bought the S1 Pro. The other downgrade is also the wireless connectivity strength to my cameras compared to the home base 3, it is much worse.

Another downgrade is that there is considerable lag when trying to control the pan and tilt on the S340 as well as waiting for the preset zones load for you to select when live streaming. This also applies to when using gestures, it take up to a minute to work. Basically becomes pointless now.

Only benefit is the built in battery.. I could not even see how to “recharge” the sim.

I should have kept the Homebase 3. My wife isn’t happy with this purchase unfortunately.

Even the playback of recording is laggy and slow.

More of a sideways move than an upgrade

While the HB Pro is faster than the HB3 it replaced, it does have quite a few drawbacks; but first the good:
- the included UPS is good. No delay and no service interuption.
- the transfer of cameras using the app was quick and easy. Only the older wall light needed to be manually paired and that didn’t take long.
- if you need the SIM card option, it is here.
Now the moderate and bad:
- the HB Pro runs hot and I mean hot, hot, HOT! So much so, that it can’t go min the loft where the HB3 lived happily for two years.
- where is the advanced AI? It seems that this needs a separate add-on and it should have been in the package. I hope this is simply in development and will come soon and cheaply.
- the HB3 SSD with all my AI data does not fit in the HB Pro. There is no caddy provided, so it only takes a 3¼” drive, so back to spinning rust. This is a bad oversight, as SSD is faster and runs cooler.
- there is no way to transfer over nearly two years of AI learning using the app. Another big oversight. Back to square one.
- only a small issue but the power brick is huge compared to the HB3.
Overall, it is OK for the job but you could easily do it with a HB3; and I did. Without the advertised AI boost, it’s just another HomeBase. It will only become a genuine upgrade from the HB3 if and when the AI module appears and only then if it is fairly cheap.

Nice bit of kit BUT

Delivered within three days of ordering I was keen to get this unit installed, set up instructions need to be a little clearer as the unit kept telling me that it was connected to Ethernet but was actually using the mobile data which was consumed very quickly.
I was at the point of returning the unit and reverting back to my HB3 when I decided to do a google search which turned out to be more of a help than those provided, although the S1 showed Ethernet was connected my router had not recognised it hence the mobile data kicking in.
The migration of cameras from my HB3s was seemless although a couple had dropped connections on and off for a few days but seemed to have settled down now.
I’m using a 2TB ssdd connected via a cable as my experience with a hard drive generated two much heat which I discovered with an earlier HB3 which failed within months which Eyfy replaced very quickly.
The S1 has been up and running for a few weeks now and iv found no lag when connecting to cameras although the geofencing is still not performing 100% its more of a miss than hit causing to switch the S1 manually.
Would I have bought the S1 if the none offer price of nearly £600 then the answer would be NO, the special offer price is what in my opinion what this product is truly worth

Decent enough if loud

Happy enough with purchase at the discounted rate, but would be less so at full price.
With the addition of an hhd, it’s rather noisy, frustratingly the built in mmc is ignored when the hhd is added, it would be handy if daily events are recorded to the built in mmc and transferred to the hhd on a scheduled basis, or when the mmc is reaching capacity (for speed of access).

The usb port for archival purposes is located at the back, in my set up, this means moving the unit out of an awkward shelf space (my own fault I know),whereas if the port was at the front, it’d be a lot simpler.

Doesn’t appear that the EdgeAICore is available at time of review, would be curious about how this improves functionality, as it stands, facial recognition is spotty, often not recognising a known face, and quite poor at highlighting unknown faces, maybe it’ll improve over time, or maybe it’s the angle and distance from motion events around my property.

Customer service was superb

Molly from the customer service team kept in touch with me throughout the buying process, ensuring the dpelivery had worked (after a problem with the first delivery attempt) and all the way to the successful final set up. Brilliant service and a great product. I won’t go anywhere else for my security cameras, vacuums etc.

The unit is excellent for event capture and also migrated the existing cameras over, however, it's AI is dismal. The Hombase 3 that this unit replaced was far superior. This unit while yes it detects a human, it cannot recognise who that person is, where as the old unit excelled.

Too complicated

Too a while to arrive, set up took a while, however it did copy over my current cameras.
What i couldn't do is cancel the notifications on Alexa, so my machines were going off every 5 mins and turning my radio off. It doesn't state you need an external harddrive or an extra AI drive for it to fully work.
Too complicated, unable to change settings and had to pay to return it.

Very silly you have to re sync everything and set everything up again

You have to manually set up, re-sync, and reconnect every single feature from scratch. There is simply no easy migration process like there was between HomeBase 2 and 3. Also, the fact that the hard drive slot is limited to 3.5 inches is just plain silly. As thee are macanical and your advised to usSSHD shower they do fit in 2.5 but wobble if moved ( okay if not moved) My least favorite thing, however, is that the Wi-Fi or wireless signal to cameras signal isn't as strong as the older HomeBase models. That is a real shame because some of my cameras keep dropping off and reconnecting now, whereas they used to be perfectly stable. To make matters worse, a week after setting it up, I lost everything and couldn't connect to it, forcing me to do a hard reset. I am just hoping this does not happen again. On top of that, the cost of the 4G SIM card isn't revealed until after you buy the unit. Bizarrely, no matter what currency you switch it to, the price stays exactly the same. You get an initial 400MB of data, to be fair last one year, but after that, a one-year subscription so much per month, will run you 111 Euros or 111 Pounds. There no info to say what you have connected to, just the activation goes away, when done . Be good if there was a test feature to toggle to mobile and see if a 1 sec video sends. I’m still not sure it will work. It is a bit peculiar that you can't just use your own SIM card, especially since there is a second SIM slot that isn't even active yet. Sloppy really, you’ve always had good stuff before

A bit disappointing

I am disappointed that I had to buy another hdd because the S1 takes a 3.5" not a 2.5" like the S380.

24 hr backup plus sim streaming

We live in a remote area with no police patrols (which is pretty standard in any area of the UK these days) and unreliable, overhead wired electricity - which has cut out 5 times over the last 2 years! The 24 hr backup battery in the Homebase Pro S1 is must have. We currently fun 6 cameras around our property, which does not benefit from council street lighting. Our security system is a necessity for monitoring what is happening around us in the dead of the night. I can't say Eufy doesn't have issues every now and then - cameras randomly going offline for half an hour, buffing crashes every so often - but for the price and the non subscription aspect, it's the best we've found!

Disappointed

Looks good and set up was simple enough. Cameras migrated from Homebase 3 with no issues. Alarm motion sensors and keypad didn't migrate so needed manually adding. No option to part arm the security system. At night we like to arm the home alarm system with the upstairs zone de-activated. Can't re-order the camera views in the app. For my needs, the Homebase 3 is a much more capable base station.

Amazing Product

So let me start off by saying the my old Eufy Homebase 3 was very frustrating to use, constant drop outs.

I was very cautious about getting this Homebase Pro S1 especially at the price, but I have to say it has impressed me so far, the connection issues have nearly gone, with the exception of one of my internal cameras which is due to poor WiFi in that room and the equipment being old.

Previously I would have to restart the app constantly to get the cameras to connect, now they connect within seconds.

Transferring from my Homebase 3 to the Pro S1 was seamless(it did take two tries) but it is very straight forward.
I have put a 4TB WD RED Hardrive within it, which was easy to install.

So to my surprise it also comes with a preload sim card within it, which has 400MB of data which can be used when you WiFi goes down, this is an ongoing cost if you need it, but it is very much a pay as you go top up model that can be cancelled any time.

So this has been a pleasant surprise, would I say paying £600 is worth it, it depends on your needs, but you do have to factor in that this is packed with features, it has POE as well, and the ability that it will have the the option to add a LLM to it.

M

I had a few few teething issues setting it up, but these have been ironed out. I had the homebase three and this is a big improvement when accessing life videos the response time is brilliant.. is downside that it doesn’t currently have Wi-Fi, but I have a strong wide connection. I’ve not experienced any disconnections and it is serving several cameras a doorbell and the alarm sensors.

I’m sure with a few more firmware updates this will be a great device.

Great kit easy to set up, fitting a hard drive it the easiest thing to do.

Eufy Homebase Proffesional

The unit is excellent for event capture and also migrated the existing cameras over, however, it's AI is dismal. The Hombase 3 that this unit replaced was far superior. This unit while yes it detects a human, it cannot recognise who that person is, where as the old unit excelled.

Very noisy cooling fan

Easy to set up but noisy cooling fan and booklets talks about Ai expansion slot, but no expansion card is available for sale.

Would not recommend

Good

Good system, but it doesn't connect to wifi, only Ethernet. So it has to stay near the BT socket, been through all the settings still doesn't connection to Wifi

A bit disappointing

I am disappointed that I had to buy another hdd because the S1 takes a 3.5" not a 2.5" like the S380.
Also it would be useful to be able to transfer all my settings from S380 to S2 without doing all manually

Pro s1

Not happy with the product WiFi is very restricted doesn’t work as good as Homebase 3 tryed to get refund but eufy says it will cost more to send it back than what it’s worth so I will have to try sell it privately ☹️

Need improvement

All my videos , open slower like when I had homebase 3 , S1 need improvement regarding access to motion clips and all devices connected to it , Don get me wrong it's great peace of equipment and with upcoming AI module definitely will be worth to buy 👍
